Mom of 3 gets back from 2 week trip, husband gets upset when she criticizes lack of cleaning and groceries: 'My lack of appreciation is disappointing'

Being a good partner is just as important as other responsibilities.

The things that are seen as desirable in a relationship vary a lot from person to person, but there are a few nearly universal traits. One of these is that most would prefer to be with somebody who is considerate and prioritizes their needs. They say that who you choose to marry is one of the most important decisions that you ever make, and the very best and worst examples of married life seem to exemplify this. It is amazing how much one individual can impact your life purely by proximity.

For couples that have kids, this decision takes on even more importance. It is possible that traits that are passable in a partner are not going to fly if that partner has to be a co-parent as well. When somebody has to juggle their relationship, kids, work, and maybe other responsibilities, some things will inevitably take a back seat now and then. The key is understanding when to cut some slack and when to put in the appropriate amount of effort to get tasks done. It isn't an easy balance, but it is worth trying to get it right.

  • Mom and Redditor r/TeaAndrea returned from a trip to visit family with her three kids after her husband had stayed at home. She was tired and looking forward to being back home, but she was disappointed to find that the house did not seem well prepared for her and the kids to be back there.

As I finally stepped out of the car the first thing I saw was that my beautiful flowers in front of the door were wilted because he didn't water them at all (I did told him to do it, but didn't remind him while I was gone). Inside of the home wasn't too messy, it wasn't how I'd do it but I was satisfied.

I went to our guest room where my father (who drove us back) should sleep, it was such a mess there that you could barely walk into the room. Our storage room was also a mess. My husband's upcoming business should keep the roof over our heads, even though it's extremely unlikely that the business will fail, we don't know how long it'll take for it to generate enough money.
